Hi Steve,
Need to give this one some thought e.g. accessing the Drobo remotely...
In the meantime... have a looked at BackBlaze.com a great/inexpensive tool for cloud backup. If you need a little more "incremental access/control" check out Arq which pushes to Amazon's S3 http://www.haystacksoftware.com/arq

I also posted an update http://shawncheatham.com/blog/revisiting-my-drobo-to-cloud-backup-config/

Cheers!

Shawn,
I would also like to make the Drobo available to be used as my storage in the Cloud if that is possible. I also have a Web hosting company as well for the websites that I design and host.

Shawn,
Here is my dream setup and I need help with how to config it from home.
At my studio I have a MacPro with 4 hard drives.
115GB SSD that hold operating system and programs
1TB that holds Documents and Music
1TB that holds Photos
200GB that is just for TimeMachine
I also have a Drobo S that has a total of 4.09TB but gives me 2.24TB of actual space. I have partitioned the Drobo to match the Mac Pro hard drives configuration and I use SuperDuper to backup the Mac Pro drives daily but only what has changed (incremental backup). What I want to do is to take the Drobo home and have it backup the Mac Pro over the internet so if ever my studio was to burn down or my Mac stolen I would just have to get a new one and I would have all of my files, plus an image of my SSD as well.
Question is: How do I connect the Drobo to the internet?
I also have a Macbook Pro 13" with a 120GB SSD to hold OS and Programs and a Data Dubbler that replaces the DVD Drive with the original 750GB drive that came in the MacBook Pro. Purchased from OWC (MacSales.com) That goes home with me every night.

Let me know if you can help
Thanks

Hey CK, thanks for checking it out. Hope you found something interesting. I revisited my strategy recently after hearing good things about Arq from Haystack Software. Pretty slick app and it allows you to backup to Amazon S3. Revisiting My Drobo to Cloud Backup Config.

Also worth reading and understanding What volume sizes may I use and what happens if my disk space exceeds my volume size?. David Trumble has a realistic post on this topic too.

I'm using the second generation 4-bay version with 6T (3-2T drives) at the moment.

Take care!
