Lazy Dayz Feel Good

Posted by Shawn on September 17, 2007

It’s been a week since I drove up to Madison WI to register for Ironman Wisconsin 2008 (IMWI08) and I’m still fully wired. If I keep up this pace, I’ll go down in flames by Thanksgiving! I’ve blown through 3 triathlon training books (more about recommended reading later), tentatively scheduled 2 training races and I’ve been to the gym for a approximately 3600 seconds. Excuses abound…I’ve had a cold, managed to tweak my IT Band on a run last Sunday and been taken care of personal matters. I guess it should come as no surprise, seeing as how in the weeks leading up to Chicago I was full of energy. Being a bit lazy can be good…right?

Online Training Tools 1

Posted by Shawn on September 14, 2007

Whether it’s hardware, software, motorcycles or tri-gear…I’m a bit of a gadget geek. Paper has never been my thing, so I’ve been trolling the Internet trying to find the ultimate training planning and tracking tool. There are tons of tools out there but nothing that really blows my hair back.

What I would really like to see is a web-based application that captures and seamlessly integrates the following;

  • Planned Training - manually entered or imported via spread sheet
  • Actual Training - imported via Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) sync or manually entered
  • Basic reporting capabilities i.e. time in HR zones, sport, etc similar to HRM reporting details
  • Blog functionality
  • Online tools I’ve signed up for but don’t really use because they lack the bells-n-whistles I would really like to see.

  • www.ontri.com
  • www.triathlete.com
  • www.beginnertriathlete.com
  • www.trigeek.com
  • www.polarpersonaltrainer.com - sync’s w/ Polar HRM but no planning capabilities
  • How about you? What type of training log or tracking tools do you use?
